Atlanta, GA – Indian River County Library System in Florida officially announced the grand opening of their new Vending Library branch location. The Vending Library, EnvisionWare’s 24-Hour Library™ solution, is open to community members at the County’s IRC Intergenerational Recreation Center (IG Center).

“The IG Center is located on a main East/West corridor in the South end of the county where we don’t currently have a branch location,” said Library Director Tracey Wehking. “It’s the perfect spot to offer library services to this underserved area. The building is open 7 days a week and attracts a truly intergenerational mix of community members.”

Located adjacent to a busy park, the Center serves children, adults and seniors and offers everything from youth basketball to pickleball and senior exercise classes, as well as community meeting spaces and adult and children’s programming. The Vending Library will offer a full range of browsing materials, including youth, adult, and large print books, as well as DVD’s and audiobooks.

The Vending Library was purchased and installed in partnership with the Indian River County Parks and Recreation Department. “This grand opening is a long time coming,” said Wehking. “We’ve been wanting to provide library services to this area for a while and had made a decision to purchase the 24-Hour Library over a year ago. The pandemic hit and we’ve been in a holding pattern until recently.”

The IG Center is open to community members under Florida’s COVID-19 Reopening Guidelines. The Vending Library is now the Indian River County Library System’s sixth location. The library system serves a population of 139,446 and is located in the Treasure Coast region of Florida.
