Atlanta, GA, February 16, 2012 - EnvisionWare, a leading provider of self-service and library-efficiency solutions, announced today that Palo Alto City Library in California selected the EnvisionWare Modular Sorter™ for automated materials handling. The sorter is an expansion of the library’s existing EnvisionWare solutions, which include EnvisionWare eCommerce Services™ and the EnvisionWare Staff Transaction Station™.
The sorter will be installed in the library’s new Mitchell Park Library & Community Center location —a 56,000-square-foot facility that will house a two-story library and a single-story community center. The library is scheduled to open in Fall 2012.
“When we started the renovation project, we were looking for a flexible system that we could easily adapt and change along with the needs of the library,” said Palo Alto City Library Business Analyst Martha Walters. “EnvisionWare’s sorter is not only completely modular, but it is also very quiet and easy to configure, giving us the efficiency we need now and the flexibility for the future.”
The Mitchell Park renovation is part of an overall improvement effort for the library’s buildings throughout Palo Alto, including the Downtown Library, Main Library and two other branches, which have already been improved.
“Mitchell Park Library is one of the busiest branches in the Palo Alto system,” noted Library Director Monique le Conge. “We project that business will only increase in a new building four times the size of the previous branch and EnvisonWare will help us respond to the demand.”
“The new Mitchell Park location is designed to serve the needs of a busy and active community,” said John Himes, EnvisionWare’s Director of Sales and Library Business Development. “We’re pleased to be Palo Alto Library’s vendor of choice for automated materials handling, and look forward to helping them get materials onto the shelves and into the hands of their residents as quickly and efficiently as possible.”
